Apparently larger sizes of QEII order were issued to her grandmother (Queen Mary), her mother (QEQM) and her sister (Princess Margaet).
Looking at the CIIIR Orders of The Princess Royal, The Duchess of Edinburgh and The Duchess of Gloucester – it looks as though they are all the same size (a bit smaller than HM's).
I would assume that when we see The Princess of Wales wearing her new Order, it too will be of the smaller variety.
On another “honours” note, I also noticed that both the The Duchess of Edinburgh and The Duchess of Gloucester were wearing their breast stars (RVO for Sophie and Garter for Birgitte) on their right side as opposed to the left (where is should be).
I am not sure why they have done this - perhaps they felt that the left side of the ensemble was a bit weighty so they moved it over – but The Princess Royal managed to wear her two RFOs and three breast stars (Garter, Thistle and RVO) correctly all on her left side.
Cheers!
