George VI, accompanied by Queen Elizabeth, did provide Royal Assent to a number of bills in person, from the thrones, in Parliament in 1939, but the King only wore a military uniform, while the Queen wore the Oriental Circlet.
There were later conflicting reports that the Crown Jewels were stored securely in Montreal over the course of the Second World War, but the consensus seems to be they were actually stored at Windsor during the conflict.

This link confirms my posting. No special opening in 1939.
Early in the speech -
Fifty years ago, on October 14, 1957, during her first visit to Canada as its Sovereign, and for the first time in Canadian history, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II opened the First Session of the Twenty-third Parliament.

I think you are right.
The only reason to take that crown would be to open Parliament, which seems so unlikely.
So far I have checked with only Wikipedia which says about "the speech from the throne" -
The sovereign has specifically delivered the speech only three times in Canadian history; Queen Elizabeth II in 1957 and 1977,[6] and King Charles III in 2025.[7]

I am readying The Last Season: 1939 by Ann de Courcy. In it she states that when George VI and Queen Elizabeth visited Canada and the USA in 1939, they were accompanied by the Imperial State Crown.
I have never heard anything of this. I thought that the Crown could not leave the country. Which is the reason the Crown of India was created.
There are a number of inaccuracies in the book, so I assume the is merely one more of these, but... Is anyone aware that the Imperial State Crown may have traveled to North America in 1939?
