Very interesting thread. Here are 2 more facts which may help. 1) What happened in June 1893 that meant Louise needed a new tiara? Answer: George, Duke of York married princess May of Teck on 6th July 1893 ..we must try to see if there is a description of Princess Louise, Marchioness of Lorne at the wedding. There are all those lovely closeups of the bride, Princess Alexandra & her daughters but I don't remember any of other guests.
2)Alexandra, Duchess of Fife wore the emerald tiara to George VI's coronation in May 1937 - so she may have owned it by then or could have been a loan - that would also have made sense as Alexandra & her husband, Arthur were the future Dukes of Connaught (if he had not died in September 1938). Alexandra then left all her jewels to her nephew, the current Duke of Fife when she died in 1959.
