The rubies from the mines of Burma, called "Mogok rubies", are famous for their deep intense "pigeon's blood" red colour. They are considered as the top quality for rubies. But they are very rare (and very expensive, of course!).
At the Biennale, Cartier displayed a Mogok ruby, mounted on a ring:
On this picture, representing several big stones used by Cartier in their recent creations, you can see the Mogok ruby in the middle of the top line. As you can see, the red colour is more intense than for the two rubies on the right.
