BTW Cristina, thanks for the pics of Princess Teresa. The one from her wedding it's new to me.

Question: Princess Teresa annd her elder sister Princess Isabelle, Countess of Paris seem to be always on the mood to wear substantial jewels - the tiara Princess Teresa wore at her wedding and at the 1964 Athens wedding is quite a nice & beautiful piece - a small whopper, I would say. Did any of her sisters or sister-in-law - Isabelle & Maria Francisca or Maria Esperança - ever wore that piece? Is it known its provenance? It's remarkable the youngest daughter got quite a piece instead of her oldest sisters or the spouse of the Head of the House.

I'm crossing my fingures for a threat about the Brazilian Braganza ladies and their interesting collection of jewels.

: I was uncertain as to the Angelfire site
: picture of the portuguese infanta.
: It was referred there as Maria Adelaide; I
: discarded that almost imediately because the
: lady in the pic did not look at all like
: her, nor the atendance of a glitering event
: was a known part of her personality. In fact
: the lady in the picture looks more like her
: sister Infanta Filipa whom it is known to
: favour more of these events.
    :
: But when I was digging (literally ) in my
: old archives I found this picture from
    : Corbis:
    :
    :
    :
    :
: The caption is from 18th october 1954,
: during the ball for Infanta Pilar's 18th
: birthday and coming out in Estoril. The
: people in the photo are identified as King
: Umberto of Italy and Maria Teresa de
: Bragança, daughter of Dom Duarte Nuno.
: Well, we know that this last part is
: obviously wrong since Dom Duarte Nuno had
    : only sons (3)!!! .
: The lady is wearing the same hair style,
: necklace (?) as head ornament on the top of
: her forehead, aparently the same earrings,
: and the exact same pendant as necklace, as
: the picture on the Angelfire site. The dress
: seems also the same, except she has a loose
: sleeve in the Corbis pic.
: The caption is most certainly referring to
: Pss Maria Teresa of Orleans-Bragança
: (1919-2011), one of the most elegant and
: distinguished royal ladies of her
: generation. She had a very nice jewelry
    : collection (diamonds, pearls, aquamarines,
: peridots...). We really should make a thread
: on her jewelry soon .
    :
: I tried to compare the mistery lady picture
: with a picture of Pss Teresa at around the
: same time, the best I found was this, as a
    : bride in 1957
    :
    :
: I can see strong resemblances, the
: distinctive arched eyebrows, nose, mouth.
: The Pss looks thinner in 1954.
: Plus, I had also these pictures of Pss
: Teresa where she seems to be wearing as
: necklace the diamond jewel she wears as head
: ornament in 1954. The center of the necklace
: has a very distinctive round
: "swirl" motif that can be seen in
: both pictures; the sides of the necklace can
: also be seen. The first is from a prewedding
: event at the Athens wedding of Pss Sophia
: and Pc Juan Carlos, the second was taken
: around the time of her wedding in 1957.
: Although the Angelfire pic is not very
: clear, the earrings also apear to be the
    : same.
    :
    :
    :
: Therefore I now believe the picture on the
: Angelfire site to be of Pss Maria Teresa of
: Orleans-Bragança, and not of neither of her
: portuguese cousins (nor taken at Maria Pia
    : and Alexander wedding).
: I would very much like to hear your
    : opinions. Thanks.

: Thanks very much for posting those photos,
    : Cristina.
    :
: Second time I'm seeing photos of the
: Infanta. And thanks for correcting the
: caption of Infanta Filippa at Aleksandar
    : & Maria Pia's wedding.
    :
: Do you know in which occasion the Infanta
: and her nephew the present Duke of Braganza
: were pictured in the last photo?
    :
: Karenl and Jorge you're most welcome.
    :

: Thank you so much Pedro!! This picture of
: Infanta Dona Filipa is totally new to me.
    :
: All her jewels in the pic are unknown to me,
: but there's one jewel from her inheritance
: that is often worn by the Duchess of
: Braganza Dona Isabel, the leaf two pearl and
    : diamond brooch
    :
    :
    :
: I have another picture of Dona Filipa
    : wearing pearl stud earrings
    :
    :
    :
: On the Angelfire pages there's a pic of a
    : gala event (can't remember wich one...Maria
: Pia of Savoy and Alexander of Yugouslavia's
: pre-wedding??) attended by the infanta
: wearing very nice jewels. The picture is
: wrongly identified as her sister Infanta
: Maria Adelaide (Infanta Maria Adelaide
: devoted her life to charity work in poor
: neighborhoods, she didn't favour atending
: these glamourous events; besides the lady in
: the pic does not look like Maria Adelaide,
: who had a rounder face). Infanta Filipa did
: seem to enjoy atending these events more
    : than her sister.
: (All credits to the pic go to Angelfire
    : site)
    :
    :
    :
: Dona Filipa wearing what seems like a three
: strand pearl necklace, with her very young
: nephew Duarte Pio, the present Duke of
    : Braganza
    :
    :
    :
: It seems that the Infanta had a nice small
: collection of jewels at her disposal. I
: don't know the whereabouts of those pieces,
: with the exception of the one now worn by
: the Duchess. Perhaps the jewels were divided
: amongs her nieces and nephews when she
: passed away? (the Infanta did not marry nor
    : had any children)
    :
    : --Previous Message--
: I found this photo of Infanta Filippa of
: Portugal, aunt of the present Duke of
: Braganza, wearing a tiiara (or some head
: piece) and a necklace. This is the first
: time I see a photo of the Infanta and so, of
    : these jewels.
    :
: Does someone have any information about it?
