According to press reports, Princess Marina was given a tiara as a wedding gift by her husband. Daily Telegraph 28 November 1934. Note this report says the centre is interchangeable and can take a ruby centre. The Examiner (Launceston, Tasmania) 11 January 1935 says the Duke of Kent gave a diamond tiara. The Mercury (Hobart, Tasmaina), 29 November 1934 talks about a ruby tiara from the bridegroom. I haven't done an exhaustive search; nor have I found an official list of the wedding gifts, although I understand a catalogue was made of those exhibited. Sadly, no photos of the tiara given by the Duke of Kent. For the pre-wedding reception, I suspect that Princess Marina would have worn the Duke of Kent's tiara in the all diamond version as the Sunday Times 2 December 1934 said that she was wearing the sapphire necklace given by Queen Mary. The big question is what did this tiara look like? Oh for a photo!!
