it just baffles me that Carlos, with his vast proud musical heritage, continues with the same songs over and over.
If we have to go into detail about his reasons for doing so:
The worst first: Laziness and complacency. He knows his same songs in sleep and can go on auto pilot without any effort. Easy money and many back clappers and too few people who are not afraid to air their dissatisfaction with matters.
Lack of his own ability? This would surprise me if so, given that Carlos always comes forward as a very contident guy.
Pressure from people "above", The "Suits with platinum eyes" to play the same old trusted songs over and over? This explanation is the one I lean towards the most, but surely a sad affair for ages now.
Carlos ought to do that "Caravanserai 2" thing with Michael and then put his career to rest. He deserves to go out on a high and not be remembered for a song with Killer Mike called "Te´kill´ya".
Doesn´t he have any pride and musical integrity left at all anymore?????
Phaw to some of his spirituality rantings.
In a lot of ways he is a hypocrite, it hurts me to say.... Previous Message
Hi Soren, we did this one song from every album thing a couple years ago. In terms of set lists,...hmmm. I have been going every year and I simply ask for a different song than "hope your feeling better"...I mean you can't play I'll Be Waiting or Life is for Living or SOMETHING ELSE...nope....set list is terrible. However, the musicianship is still excellent. It is worth going for my European amigos..... Previous Message
I would really like this Santana tour of next year to be something special, but I won´t hold my breath.
It would be so refreshing if Carlos and band, for once, played one song from all of the existing albums. Imagine how awesome a reception from the crowd if that was to be?
Then he could play Samba Pa ti, BMW, Maria Maria, Soul Sacrifice and Smooth as encores.
If you all could chose one song from each album to be played, what would these tunes be?
Eagerly awaiting replies.
My own list would be something like this:
"Treat"
"Incident at Neshabur"
"Everybody´s everything"
"Song of the wind"
"Love, devotion and surrender"
"Mirage"
"Let me"
"Maria Caracoles"
"Transcendance"
"Life is a lady/Holiday"
"Aqua Marine"
"Brightest star"
"Body surfing"
"Brotherhood"
"Before we go"
"Soweto (Africa Libre)"
"Somewhere in heaven"
"Bacalao con pan (outtake from "Supernatural")
"Victory is won"
"Song for Cindy"
I have left out songs from Carlos´ many solo albums, but feel free to include them in the list as well.

The band is finally coming back to Denmark again next summer as well as many other venues spread all over Europe. Ticket prizes expensive, though. I sincerely hope there is new material in the set list. The set lists has been stale for many years now. Please surprise us, Carlos.
