I don't really look at films as being tied to generations. I know that people that grow up in a particular era can have a deeper connection to something in their time period but for me I mostly just discovered many old classics later in life. They are about people, emotions and simpler times and that is what I find that I like about them.
I like "A Christmas Story" pretty well myself but it has really suffered from overkill and overplay in recent years. Some of the more modern efforts I will watch for some humor or just a good laugh such as "Christmas Vacation" or "Christmas With The Kranks" but in the old ones I can find more of the true Christmas spirit.
