I have indeed just had another listen to Schech's contribution as Senta to the Konwitschny recording and have to say that a second hearing just confirms my opinion that she is simply splendid. The voice is huge with a properly audible lower register and those top notes are almost scary, she has such attack and security. it is true that at times she has a slightly over-prominent vibrato but it certainly isn't a wobble and she doesn't sound like the Dutchman's mother to my ears! I rather think she sounds young and vulnerable despite the size of her instrument. Perhaps understandably you cannot be bothered to revisit it to check if you still feel the same way about her singing, but I'd be intrigued to know if that was still the case.
