I'm very similar--I too shun shoephones, and I too took tuxedo's "nudge the labrador" to mean "stroke your pet dog" (which I thought a delightfully witty and surrealistic way to end a message). But it is true that there exist very simple freeware computer programmes for editing LPs and very simple internet help pages to guide even people of my indescribable stupidity in using them.
In any case, I suspect many (not all) of these recordings have actually been issued on commercial CD if only we knew where to look for them.
For instance, Munchinger's Suk and Wolf were issued on CD in 2010 on Eloquence ELQ4800447, coupled with his Grieg Holberg Suite and Dvorak String Serenade.
Khaikin's Glazunov Seasons was issued on CD in 2012 on Melodiya MEL CD 10 02085, coupled with Svetlanov's Chopiniana.
Thankyou for this information; I shall make an effort to track it down.
I note that Rob Barnett's choices included the very rare Argo issue of Balfour Gardiner's music (I have a very worn copy in my collection) and would doubt very much if that has been ever re-issued - a regrettable state of affairs because some of the music has never been otherwise available. Maybe an entirely new recording of these works could be made - if the performing material hasn't gone missing in the intervening years, that is.
