Now lets please get over this once and for all. Nova64 has posted a great idea to launch an international Nova Day for all fans across the globe to celebrate Nova, from Rich Rider, Robert Rider, Sam and even Zig Zag the dog!
Jeez..I really do miss the good old days when we were all good friends and colleagues with a shared passion for our favourite concept. Good times that seem more distant each day.

: See, STILL, the second line there just
: indicates you have not gotten the substance
: of my argument and complaint...ergo your not
: reading my posts. The thesis of which,
: "I think it is unacceptable for Nova
: fans to accept Rich as
: gone"..truthfully and admittedly, this
: IS confrontational and judgmental, and a
: "call out". I don't deny that.
: Sometimes when people are wrong , you have
: to tell them they are wrong and why you
: think that. I'm sorry I wont compromise
: here.
:
: Yet again, this line of posts from my angle
: has nothing to do with the boycott or not
: buying Marvel/ Substitute Nova books. I
: stated that clearly 2 x and now I'm done.For
: the record, I have never stated, that a
: boycott is THE (meaning single) way to get
: rider back. This also indicates you do not
: seem to get what I have written, when I have
: expressly indicated I do not buy Marvel
: comics now for a macro sense of my purchase
: power not to buy an inferior product, not
: just Rider inclusive.
:
: Lastly, again the "True Nova Fan"
: Or "Good Nova fan" I have my
: opinions of what this should be, I'm not god
: nor am I speaking for all Rider fans. I am a
: man with an opinion on what those things
: are. If someone violates them, I feel the
: need to call them out as best I can. I tried
: hard to be reasonable and respectful. In
: terms of "inflammatory" well that
: is a subjective condition. I have a few
: inflamed bug bites right now on my leg,
: sadly I must deal with them until they've
: run their course.
:
: Jokes aside, I was also clear I did not
: expressively lump you into the category of
: not being a "Good nova Fan"..in
: fact, I stated I was pretty sure we were
: dealing with a misunderstanding here and you
: were NOT of the category I spoke. But again,
: another indication whatever I've written has
: been lost in the translation.
:
: I'm not backing off with my opinion what I
: said in post #1. Nova fans should not accept
: for one minute that Rich is dead and
: mothballed. its my opinion and, yet again
: its not something I'm going to compromise
: on.
:
:
:
:
: --Previous Message--
:
: How about we just lay off terms like
: "good Nova fan" and move past
: this? It may not have been your intention
: but it is insulting so perhaps it would be
: best to just avoid inflamatory words.
:
: You are outspoken here on your belief that a
: boycot is the way to bring back Rider.
:
: I respectfully disagree. I believe, as
: deeply as you do, that boycotting Nova
: material without Rider will have exactly the
: opposite effect that you desire.
:
: Nova is a brand within Marvel. The more we
: support the brand the more they will be
: searching for ways to sell that brand.
: Which would eventually lead them to reviving
: Rider.
:
: Conversely, the more we stay away from that
: brand the less likely they are to take any
: chances with anything Nova at all
: --including Rider.
:
: Not supporting Nova related comics is the
: very worst thing you can do if you want to
: see Richard Rider gracing the comics again.
:
: It also has the side effect of missing out
: on potentially good Nova related stories.
:
: My suggestion to readers here who want to
: see Richard Rider again is to buy every
: single thing where Nova is mentioned in any
: capacity and to let Marvel know that we love
: the heck out of Nova stuff.
:
: I understand your position here. I disagree
: with it, but I get it.
:
: Your reply just now came right out of the
: gate accusing me of potentially skimming or
: reading half of what you wrote. Which, I
: assure you, is very much not the case. But
: when you do that it sets up an antagonistic
: tone, don't you see that? It is not
: friendly. That I do not agree with you does
: not mean I didn't understand or did not read
: what you wrote. It simply means I read what
: you put down and then had different ideas.
:
: So let's just make sure to play nice when
: we discuss these things. Agreed?
:
: One thing I can say: It is clear you are a
: passionate fan. As a long time Nova fan and
: one who remembers the long period where Nova
: was almost a forgotten hero. Coming back to
: comics I was delighted to discover he had
: new adventures. I have a huge amount of
: love for anyone who loves this character as
: much as you (or I) do.
:
:
:
:
:
:
:
: --Previous Message--
: Most of your post seems to indicate you
: didn't
: pick up the substance of what I was saying
: or skimmed/ stopped half way.
:
: I said I have no tolerance for the notion
: folks would give up on Rider and accept
: Marvel's corporate driven agenda to keep him
: mothballed..And yes, agreed, it is
: judgmental of me. Sometimes I do evaluate
: what I read , form an opinion (or Judgement)
: on what I read, and provide feedback to the
: opinion.
:
: In my belief, I specifically separated the
: other factors that divide us. (IE SAM,
: BOYCOTTS, OR NEW MATERIAL) as a separate
: matters worthy of a different debate, and
: perhaps fan compromise and common ground.
: Frankly, I've compromised a lot on this
: issue, despite what some think here. I'm not
: flaming folks right now for buying this
: material. (though, personally, i think folks
: should not buy it, but again a separate
: issue)
:
: So I'm not going to compromise, I do think
: folks who say they are cool with Rider being
: dead are not good Nova fans. Its my
: opinion, sorry if you disagree.
:
: We have to harken back to something Timelord
: once said ...this stuff is not a "Blood
: Fued" folks. As you say disagreement,
: even heated, is OK. The board has a COC and
: we all need to abide and respect that..I
: think we all do.
:
: You seem like a decent guy Scott, and from
: most of the substance of your post , I don't
: think your in the category I;m even
: referring .
:
: The point of me throwing the term "true
: Nova fans" around is not really to
: divide us, I just want you to wake up and
: hopefully, change your tune. Truth is,
: despite what I said, I do consider Lio
: (whose opinion I value also), You, and
: others "True" nova fans. I'm just
: trying to wake you guys up.
:
: But really, (some) of this thread and vibe
: just sounds defeated and mopey. And we are
: all better than that. I'm just trying to
: wake folks up.
:
: Before this thread, I assumed all of as, at
: the least, had the common ground that we
: "Wanted Rich Back" and an active
: character in the Marvel U. Damn, that seemed
: lock solid.
:
: For trying to re affirm that and be
: outspoken...I'll take the flame and the hit
: if you guys don't like it. Again, it is no
: sweat off my back to be the bad guy if that
: whats , IMO, needed.
:
: If you guys disagree w/me its OK. I still
: find giving up on Rider unacceptable.
:
: --Previous Message--
:
: See, I take exception to that. I am a
: Richard Rider fan. I am old enough that I
: was buying the original issues when they
: came out.
:
: Yet the Sam Alexander Nova comics are the
: only comics I even buy. Would I prefer a
: Richard Rider comic? Yes. Absolutely.
:
: But in the absence of a Rider comic I am
: content to enjoy stories of spin-off Nova
: characters.
:
: My problem with Sam is not that he is not
: Richard. My problem with Sam is that he is
: not a fully realized hero.
:
: You can't reasonably say that people like me
: are not Richard Rider fans. We are. 100%
: fans. We love the character.
:
: We just do not subscribe to the belief that
: it is an all-or-nothing thing. And we do
: not subscribe to the belief that supporting
: Nova characters will somehow stop Rider from
: coming back.
:
: You say that it is not OK? Who the heck are
: you to say so? How judgemental!
:
: Because Richard Rider is, indeed, gone for
: the time being. Do I like it? No. Do I
: wish it were otherwise? Sure. Do I hope
: they bring Rider back someday? You betcha.
: There is not a single comic event that would
: make me happier than to see the return of
: Richard Rider as Nova.
:
: But to say that people are not a fan because
: they accept something that really is out of
: their control (and no, IMHO the boycott is
: and will never be effective so it really is
: not in our control) is where I draw the
: line.
:
: I understand your point of view. I've said
: on this forum that I respect it. So it
: would be nice to see some respectful
: disagreent instead of drawing metaphorical
: lines and declaring those who disagree with
: you to not be a fan.
:
: Because I do actually disagree with you.
: And I am still, regardless, a Richard Rider
: fan. At the same time as being a Nova Corps
: fan.
:
:
:
:
:
:
:
:
:
: --Previous Message--
: I still need more information.
:
: but let me say a few things.
:
: First off , we all can relax, whatever each
: of us wants, with this creative team, this
: book will be dead in six months. This writer
: is getting hammered week after week for his
: suicide squad.(even by CBR folks). His Nova
: special book was horrid (IMO at least) and
: embraced the cycle of making fun of DnA era
: material.
:
: Next, I want to say how gross some of the
: talk is on this thread. For some, I am some
: crazed Rich Rider zealot who has no
: reasonable sense, to others on here , even
: many I disagree with, I value a lot of your
: opinions.
:
: But let me say, the notion of "Aw
: shucks...Rich is dead forever, oh well he
: had his day.." is not acceptable.
:
: You don't have to be as angry as me or
: others, you don't have to hate Sam, man you
: don;t even have to not buy or boycott, but
: let me say that attitude to just accept the
: guy as gone is BS from a fan.
:
: That IS where I draw the line. If you claim
: to be a Nova fan and then claim you are cool
: with Rich being dead, that's just not OK.
:
: Wil E is right...this, if this is, in fact,
: "Jesse Alexander", the move is yet
: another low down dirty scungy chronicle in
: this fight. Its actually brainwashing...and
: from the sound of it, the tactic is working.
:
: From the start, every effort was made to
: confuse the readers that "Jesse could
: be Rich" , from his very similar
: appearance, to the way he talked or went
: about certain things, from a smattering of
: other clues we all chatted about 10 issues
: into this series. In many ways, he seemed
: like some sort of version of rich who was
: time flung and never had the Annhilation War
: experience. But then the fundamental fact
: the Vol. 5 folks just didn't know who Rich
: was or what happened in the old books caught
: up with them..
:
: I'm not going to touch on the more in depth
: aspects of how canon is basically out the
: window in Nova et al these days, sorry Wil
: E, but worrying about worldminds and rank is
: like worrying about a broken toilet in the
: plane while the engines have fallen off.
:
: Duggan's crew forgot, the biggest bullsheet
: factor in this is how everything Rich was
: built up to, everything he believed in
: responsible use of the Nova force and
: training those who wield it has been
: violated by the lackluster character of
: Jesse Alexander. If folks don't recall, at
: one point, Rich chose DEATH over using the
: force irresponsibly and putting out poorly
: trained corpsmen. What has gone on with
: Jesse violates everything. He's no mentor.
: And if it does turn out to be Rich still, it
: will be difficult to undue this.
:
: As for what Will E points out , that the
: Marvel / Disney Hegemony would craft a brown
: haired rogueish guy with so many other
: traits of Rich Rider and place him
: nonsensically in some weird retcon they
: could not bother to expand on in 30 issues
: of Vol. 5, just defies all logic. The only
: explanation is something silly, like the
: reason Rider is mothballed is because they
: want to teach uppity fans a lesson or
: because truly some exec has said no go on a
: character with the name "Dick
: Rider". I just don't know.
:
: Please, all i ask is if you are a Rider fan,
: to keep the faith and keep hammering this
:
: As I now realize, especially looking at this
: mess of books with 'fightin pregger SPider
: Women and a host of crazy lineups Marvel is
: out of its collective mind right now. Its a
: line wide problem and Rich Rider debacle is
: only one sad fold in the mess. Look how they
: are even bleeding creators. Its a mess.
:
: As of now, I won't buy marvel because a
: fundamental problem with the quality of the
: product. Rider be damned, I have principles
: with my hard earned money.
:
: I hope some of you will change your tune. I
: value a lot of your guys opinions and hope
: we can still stay resolute on this deal.
:
: We still all need more info before going
: bonkers...and I'll let that play out before
: I do as well.
:

: So Marvel is going back to re-start a bunch
: of
: #1s and it seems this new "Nova"
: series is part of the so-called "New
: 45"(from what I have been able to
: gather: a collection of covers or ads as
: seen in the new Marvel Previews or similar
: catalog).
: Marvel is pretty adamant about not bringing
: Richard Rider back but are listening to
: fans, and to some degree, disgruntled loyal
: RR fans like myself: Sam Alexander will be
: getting a mentor at it will his father
: Jesse. Jesse will wear his old Xandarian
: Nova Corps uniform and not the Black Ops
: Super Duper suit. I asume Jesse is now the
: new "living legacy" of the old
: Corps and there is no Nova Prime...very
: conveniently doing away with RR the sneaky,
: DIRTY, way.
: Duggan and company will eventually find some
: excuse to do away with a Nova Prime and be
: more independent of a Worldmind. Anything to
: remove themselves of RR and instead
: concentrate on a "Nova brand"
: without any involvement of RR.
:
: Common sense and logic still dictates that
: the real Xandarian Worldmind is still
: operational in order for Sam's
: mini-Worldmind to syphon its energy from. RR
: absorbed the full Nova Force along with the
: Cosmic Cube to create a gateway for Quill
: and Drax to escape the Cancerverse and that
: combined energy would not just easily burn
: itself out. RR is definitely still alive out
: there, in a sentient cosmic energy form,
: around his last known coordinates.
: Jesse may have been able to resume being a
: Nova Centurion using the
: "mini-Worldmind" but the Nova
: Force must still active in the real
: Worldmind in order for that to be possible.
: No, I don't think the real Worldmind
: downloaded itself to the Black Nova's
: mini-worldmind...but Duggan or any other
: writer could easily find that as the perfect
: way to dust off any more ties with RR. Very
: dirty and sad of Marvel to do so.

: Here's my speculation
: A) Richard Rider is back.
: B) Sam's dad and Sam Alexander only
: C) generation storyline, origin of Jesse to
: Sam Alexander.
: Cb) Jesse Alexander is a Xandarian who
: "gone native" on Earth after he
: crashlanded on it on a training mission
: (hope alien hunters are also interested in
: selling "the last Xandarian and his
: exotic hybrid offpsrings") and showing
: why Jesse decided to stay on Earth rather
: than Xandar, which Grandma Alexander
: (possibly a high ranking Nova) may be pissed
: at his son's choice before Luphimorph blew
: the planet and her to pieces, or Nebula's
: rampage, or eaten by bugs.
: I am gonna pick C and Cb since Marvel need
: to have an alien-human hybrid without
: "my dad impregnated my mom and ditched
: her with an unborn child" and being
: white (at least fully, but Hulkling is kinda
: green).
