That is what I read some time ago (and I think in these boards...), I cannot confirm it of course... Only HM knows, but at her eldest daughter wedding Queen Silvia would wanted obviously to be at her most glamourous, so she chose the most impressive set of jewelry, the Braganza tiara and the pink topaz set. It was such a special ocasion it would be worth the disconfort of the "heavy" jewels. And the Queen looked indeed fantastic!

: But at Crown Princess Victoria's Wedding she
: wore it for a even longer time then she
: would need for the Nobel Ceremony.

: I once read that it was because the Braganza
: tiara was the heaviest of all the tiaras,
: and to the Nobel ceremony the Queen would
: have to wear it for many hours (the ceremony
: and then the banquet...). It would cause her
: great disconfort and perhaps migranes to
: wear it for a long period of time...

: Lovely Queen Silvia! I find strange that of
: all the times she wore the Leuchtemberg
: sapphires and diamonds suite or the nine
: prongs diamonds tiara (fewer times the
: Connaught diamonds tiara or the cameos
: parure), she did not wear once the imposing
: Bragança diamonds tiara that she wore on
    : Princess Victoria's wedding day.
