This was a very common style of design in the mid 19th century. I am sure there are many examples of this style that either still exist.

I now very much believe that the tiara, necklace and brooch (and earrings) all passed to the Fife family; as I believe the picture of the Duchess of Fife in 1960, shows her wearing the tiara necklace and brooch.

I recall the Court Circular occasionally mentioning that Queen Alexandra both as Queen and Princess of Wales appeared at Court in an "emerald tiara" or "emerald diadem"; it is thus my suspicion that this emerald Parure passed to Alexandra and by decent to the Fifes. As no other emerald tiara has been seen or associated with the British Royal Family prior to Queen Mary's Delhi Durbar tiara. And if it passed to Queen Alexandra as Princess of Wales, it would explain its omission from the 1896 Inventory of Queen Victoria's Jewels.

The only way to be sure, would be to study Queen Alexandra's inventory, to see if this emerald parure is included in her jewels; if so it would tell us to whom it passed.

I wonder if the cabochon-emerald brooches and chandelier earrings (worn by Queen Victoria in the famous 1846 Family Portrait) also passed to this branch of the family; or they were dispersed elsewhere.

: but both necklaces are so identical in the
: design... the only thing Queen Mom's
: necklace is missing is small emeralds on top
: of diamond elements which are located
: between large square emerald pieces...
