There are two comments I would like to make on Princess Victoria of Hesse as a person and about her jewels: 1) Princess Victoria was the one who travelled as far as Beijing (China) to identify her sister Grand Duchess Ella's poor remains after she was killed by the Bolsheviks in 1918. After another long journey, Princess Victoria was present when her sister's remains were interred in Jerusalem. 2)Concerning the jewels, Princess Viktoria's were not the only Hessian jewels to disappear. Also the jewels of the main line of the Hesse family were stolen during World War II. Another cousin of Princess Victoria's lost her jewels too in Russia: HM Queen Marie of Romania.
