Re: Diamond bandeau as bracelet Archived Message

Thanks Monica. Sorry to know that... since Pss Astrid's children live completely private lives most likely this piece will end up in an auction house someday in the future. We know of several cases of descendents that would prefer to have some cash rather than having a diamond piece stored away that they would not have that much oportunity to wear.

Really hope that, if that was to happen in the future, the king will buy it back.

: According to Trond Norén Isaksens book about
: princess Astrid (and he did interview her)
: the bracelet/bandeau is the private property
: of princess Astrid and it will not return to
: the Royal Family after her death.
: As a crown I mean, as you said, a fully
: closed bracelet on her head. There must be
: pictures somewhere. I will have to look

: Beautiful portrait, she is wearing the
    : diamond
: "bandeau" as bracelet. I think its
: a lovely and versatile piece that sould not
    : stay in the vaults.
    :
: As to your previous post, thank you for that
: information, are there any pictures of that
    : event?
: When it's said that Pss Astrid wore it as a
: little crown, it means as a fully closed
: bracelet placed on the top of the head
: right? The idea reminds me of young Queen
: Sirikit of Thailand wearing the traditional
: gold crown on top of the head...
    :
: Still think that a wider version of the
: bracelet set on an appropriate frame would
: be a very nice small tiara for a young
: princess, maybe for Pss Ingrid Alexandra
    : sometime in the future.
    :
: I am not sure if this is one of the
: historical pieces that Pss Astrid told will
: be returned to the main line after her
: passing, but I hope so. So lovely for Pss
: Ingrid if she was to be able to wear this
: fine and versatile piece from her
    : greatgrandmother.

: Would it be possible to adapt this piece to
    : a
: suitable frame and turn it into a small
: tiara to be worn on the top on the head
    : instead of the forehead?
: Its not an ugly piece, I think it would look
: so much better and it would became so much
: "wearable". The jewel could remain
: convertible to bracelet when removed from
: the frame, we know of several of such
    : examples.

: This tiara has to my knowlegde never been
    : worn
: by princess Astrid. It is said to be made by
: Boucheron around 1900 and was bougth by
: prince Carl as a gift to princess Ingeborg.
: She passed it on to princess Ragnhild.
    :
    :
: The third paragraph of the article about the
: Boucheron tiara mentions the bracelet /
: bandeau, which Crown Princess Märtha was
: wearing along with the Boucheron tiara at
: the reception at the Waldorf Astoria in
    : 1939.
    :
: Thank you for the lovely picture! I really
    : like the Vasa tiara!
