At a Reception and Concert on the evening of 9 May the Duchess wore a "flashing tiara of diamonds". Another report says: At the reception at Goverment House tonight the Duchess of Cornwall and York wore a trained gown of black brocade, the front of the skirt being panelled, with jet on the low cut corsage. Two orders were worn. Her Royal Highness wore magnificent jewels, a dog-collar necklace of diamonds, with pendants of diamonds and amethysts, a coronet of diamonds and amethysts, and two diamond bangles over the long black suede gloves. Edit: the descriptions get better and better! " A diamond tiara in simple bandeau style worn set rather back on the head; many strings of diamonds round the neck formed a deep collar; below this was a collarette of amethyst, and diamonds hanging in pendants; on the left side of the bodice a large diamond ornament was worn, with strings of diamonds caught by medallion shaped diamond ornaments. The jewels were magnificent."
