Mourning jewels were usually of dark colours. Onyx and amethysts were the most common examples.
Swedish royal ladies wore "white" jewels (diamonds, pearls) in honour of their guests, what could be interpreted as a softer mourning jewelry.
Of course HM and HRH have a beautiful amethyst set they could have worned, but it would look too heavy and dark combined with the black dressing. I think they were perfect in their choices.
--Previous Message-- : Are they still mourning black jewels? I think : it was in the past and only Empress Zita : wore a black tiara. : : : --Previous Message-- : Thank you Josefine. Lovely to see the royal : ladies. In mourning, but still elegantly : bejeweld in the right proportion. : : : --Previous Message-- : : : : : : : : : :
