I hav found further descriptions of the tiara of Princess Christian from different newspapers at the time of the exhibition: http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast?a=d&d=MEX19110601.2.7 http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/65636023 So we may be looking for a small (?) symmetrical, circlet of 51 Italian or Persian turquoise, the turquoise set in diamonds alternating with fine diamonds on raised points, forming two pretty rings! The descriptions of the other tiaras of Princess Alice and the Duchess of Albany seem to match their coronation photos. --Previous Message-- : Hello Stuart : : : I agree that the page reads as though : Princess Christian is wearing the turquoise : parure but the Teck exhibition description : doesn't fit. : : Princess Christian could have left some of : her jewels to her surviving son in addition : to her daughters. : : Laura : : --Previous Message-- : Dear Laura : The English translation on the link I : provided suggests (in my interpretation) : that the photo shows Princess Helena wearing : the turquoise tiara, necklace and earrings : in addition to the crescent brooch. I agree : this design does not fit the exhibition : description. It sounds as if this were : magnificent parure- surely this would have : passed to one of her daughters? : : : --Previous Message-- : The picture is illustrating the diamond : crescent brooch which was a wedding gift and : is not illustrating the turquoise parure. : : : : :
