Source: Library of Congress collection. From "The Washington Herald" (Washington, D.C.) dated May 4, 1911: [Note: I found another article with clearer details re: Princess Christian's bandeau] Quote from this newspaper: "The small circular crown of Princess Christian is unique; it is the only one in the exhibition with a setting of turquoises, the stones of prosperity. The turquoises alternate with very fine diamonds on raised points." [Note: no pearls are mentioned here at all in that paragraph, so maybe the card picture in the link you posted immediately above could match this description. What do you think?] Also, there are a few quotes re: royal-related items in this same article from this same newspaper. In case you are interested..... (a) "The headgear of the Duchess of Albany is made up of a quadruple row of diamonds, surmounted in front by a half sun, the rays of which are formed by glittering brilliants." (b) "Of unusual design is the tiara of Princess Alexander of Teck. It has slanted wheat ears formed of diamonds in a curious old setting and meeting in front. The whole is divisible into corsage ornaments and brooches." (c) "The Duchess of Beaufort's tiara contains a series of diamond rosettes, which form the bandeau and rise into high ornamental scrolls in front." (Wasn't the Duchess of Beaufort in 1911 a relative of some sort of Queen Mary?) (d) I know this lady was no blood relative of Mary, Princess Royal, Countess of Harewood, in 1911 because she was too young then to be married yet. But this lady probably would be her future mother-in-law, wouldn't she? Besides, maybe the future Princess Royal would end up actually wearing what's described below after her marriage to the Earl of Harewood. "Lady Harewood will wear a high wreath of diamond roses." The End. --Previous Message-- : It could be definite you got it, Nellie! It : could be that bandeau that was described in : the "tiara show."
