The so-called Rundell Diadem, which was in fact by Garrards, has been inherited by Princess Victoria who sold it. I´m at work now, but I guess it´s mentioned in "The Queen´s jewels" and there are informations about it at Ursulas´ great webpage. http://www.royal-magazin.de/england/queen-alexandra/alexandra-rundell-tiara.htm It would not be the first time a european jewel had been copied in the east. Who is the Lady? Although the similarity is striking on the first look I would be very surprised if the Wedding Tiara of Princess, later Queen Alexandra, had been made of gold and silver in this way. Usually the stones were set in silver and an mounted in gold. But one element in gold and one in silver? It looks indeed like a copy adapted to the eastern taste. Besides the different base the greek elements of the original wedding tiara seems to be wider in range. If that would have been the original wedding tiara of QA, I could understand why Princess Victoria sold it. --Previous Message-- : But the band could have been altered, by : Princess Victoria or by one of the other : owners... : : --Previous Message-- : The tiara no doubt was inspired by Queen : Alexandras but it certainly is not it. : The band is vastly inferior to the Queens in : size of stone and workmanship. : : --Previous Message-- : Could this tiara be Queen Alexandra's tiara : from her wedding gift parure (frequently : known as the Rundell tiara)? : : : : http://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=278185&d=1311276233 : It's very similar to Queen Alexandra's : tiara, I can see only some differences in : the base (which could have been altered). : There's both yellow and white gold, but I : think we don't know the exact color of the : queen's tiara since photographs at that time : where only black and white. : Now we know that Princess Victoria inherited : the tiara, so she could have sold it. : Sorry if that question was already posted. : : : : :
