    Following your post I can't resist commenting on how Franco's wife was called Doña Collares "Mrs. Necklaces" because she had an avid taste for jewelry.
    Most of her jewels, however, were not that tastefull...

    I remember a tv interview some years ago with a reporter of those days (the polemic Jaime Penafiel, he made the coverage for Hola magazine of all the royal weddings of the 1960's, he is now a fierce detrator of the royal family mainly Pss Letizia).
    He stated that when Franco's wife visited some city or village she would always stop at a local jewerly store and admire some of the jewels. Of course in the end of the visit she would be presented with the jewels she was admiring...
    At some point, when it was known that she would visit a city, the local jewelers start making a collection among them, to minimize the cost of the gifts. One of them would certainly be "the victim".
