: Erik thank you, now here we have an obvious
: proof on why the lady was called "Mrs.
    : Necklaces"
    :
: I think that is in fact a tiara (or head
: bandeau) worn with the spanish mantilla. As
: I said, it is a well known fact how the
: spanish first lady adored jewels. As some
: first ladies in those days, she wore tiaras
: at state visits; also on her elder
    : grandaughters weddings.
: She is wearing it here at the weding of her
: eldest grandaughter Maria del Carmen with
: the Duke of Cadiz. Here's another pic:
    :
    :
    :
: And an oficial pic of Doņa Carmen fully
    : bejeweled
    :
    :
    :
: The pearls on the necklace and earrings are
: really huge and ostentatious (that was the
: purpose I think). As to the head
    : ornament/tiara...let's say I would not buy
: it even if I had the Money (to put it very
: politely ). Perhaps it was one of the
    : "gifts" .

: Is it a tiara with mantilla? or a bejewelled
    : mantilla?
My question is off topic. Does anyone know how Spanish ladies secure the large combs which hold their mantillas? The weight of these mantillas must surely tend to pull the combs backwards.
