I found this photo in Majesty Magazine V29 N07 P22 it's of Marie and Victoria of Edinburgh daughters of Alfred Duke of Edinburgh taken in 1891. Clearly the same type of Pin/Brooch. PJ --Previous Message-- : : Thanks again Bryce. : : --Previous Message-- : Nellie is correct in that this brooch is : (partly) made up of nautical alphabet flags. : The second flag is an "S"; : the third flag is a "C" and : the fourth flag is an "F" : : Yep...you might have guessed it.... : The first flag is a rendering of the Save : the Children Fund logo - one of the Princess : Royals most beloved charities. : : It is very subtle but very clever. : : Cheers! : Bryce : : --Previous Message-- : You reminded me about another photo I found : of : Pss Anne. Take a look at this one here. : PJ : : --Previous Message-- : : Oh! Well spotted. : Now I know nothing about semaphore flags but : might there be some significance? : Perhaps the letter A? Plus another nautical : feature? : : : --Previous Message-- : I found the pins while taking pictures of : all : my magazines. The Queen Alexandra photos are : from Majesty Magazine V26 N11 P31 and the : Pss Anne photo is from V21 N3 P6. They may : not be the same but it is sure coincidental. : PJ : : : : : : : : : : : :
