Thanks Arthur. As to the ruby earrings worn for the Order of the Thistle ceremony, if I had those gorgeous earrings, green robe or not. I'd wear them with shorts and flip flops if need be.

: The month of June 2014 was an unusually
: glittering month, during which Queen
: Elizabeth II dazzled us with a bunch of
: brooches which she had until then never
: worn, or worn only once:
    : - State visit to France and D-Day 70th
    : anniversary: Botswana Flower Brooch,
: Multicolour Diamond Floral Spray, Queen
    : Victoria’s Fringe Brooch, Queen-Mother
    : Elizabeth’s Ruby Spray Brooch
: - Royal Ascot week: Two Swans Baroque Pearl
    : Brooch, Queen-Mother Elizabeth’s Aquamarine
: Art Déco Brooch, Multicolour Diamond Floral
    : Spray, Saskatchewan Tourmaline Brooch
: - visit to Northern Ireland: Queen
: Alexandra’s Pearl and Diamond Brooch (from
: her wedding gift parure) and Bronte
    : Porcelain Snow-Drop Brooch.
    :
: Since her return from Northern Ireland, Her
: Majesty seems to have returned to a
: “business as usual” policy in her selection
: of brooches, as she has worn in the past
: days only brooches she has been frequently
