you are right, the Duchess of Connaught was present (and probably the Duke too).

The Duchess of Connaught was wearing in her hair a set of diamond sunburst brooches mounted as tiara, which she has worn only for this occasion (at least we have no other photographic proof of another wearing). I think I had read somewhere that these brooches were a loan from Queen Victoria, but I do not remember in which book or on which website:
The Duchess of Connaught's sister-in-law, Maria Alexandrovna, Duchess of Edinburgh and Duchess of Saxe-Coburg-and-Gotha, was also present, but more probably in her capacity of Duchess consort of Saxe-Coburg-and-Gotha and Tsar's daughter, rather than as a British princess. But whatever the capacity she was present for, she was not the kind of woman to let her sister-in-law outshine her...
