Thank you, Maria-Olivia, your words are very touching, and I am happy that you enjoy my contribution (I can not say my "work", since it is foremost a pleasure for me... and definitely not my professional occupation). I try to do my best and to share here information other posters and readers can enjoy. I like how the combined contribution of several posters enable us to reach collectively plausible conclusions about this or that jewel.

I also like the excitement of tracking the origin and/or the whereabouts of jewels across the decades and the centuries, or the excitement of trying to classify in an orderly manner some collections of jewels which look, at first sight, like a glittering but also sometimes disconcerting jungle... (I think of course in priority to the British royal collection).

: Grateful thanks Arthur. You are really an
: excellent member of this board sending
: interesting and rare pictures, your
: explanations such as her tiara are given in
: all details and in such a wise and correct

    : Hello Maria-Olivia,
    :
: you are right, the Duchess of Connaught was
: present (and probably the Duke too).
    :
: Here are pictures of the famous group photo
: of the Duchess seated among a bunch of
: Russian Grand-Duchesses. It was a time when
: "glitter" was not a vain word...

    :
: The Duchess of Connaught was wearing in her
: hair a set of diamond sunburst brooches
: mounted as tiara, which she has worn only
: for this occasion (at least we have no other
: photographic proof of another wearing). I
: think I had read somewhere that these
: brooches were a loan from Queen Victoria,
: but I do not remember in which book or on
    : which website:

    :
    :
    : The Duchess of Connaught's sister-in-law,
: Maria Alexandrovna, Duchess of Edinburgh and
: Duchess of Saxe-Coburg-and-Gotha, was also
: present, but more probably in her capacity
: of Duchess consort of Saxe-Coburg-and-Gotha
: and Tsar's daughter, rather than as a
: British princess. But whatever the capacity
: she was present for, she was not the kind of
: woman to let her sister-in-law outshine
    : her...

: I think , It was the Duchess of Connaught
    : who
: represented the British Royal House at the
: tsar Nicolas II 's Coronation.
: Sitting among the Grand Duchesses which
: jewels did she wear exactly ?
    : Thanks for answer
