I strongly suspect that the earrings and necklace can be re-assembled. I doubt if the Crown Princess would alter a grand design which suits her without having this ability, as then she would be without a grand necklace and earrings. Bjarne's comments in 2012 have also influenced my thinking.

: Thank you, Kasper and Marianne.

: I agree these rubies look very good on Crown
: Princess Mary's dark hair and undisputable
    : elegance.
    :
: But I admit, anyway, that I can not prevent
: myself from feeling a shiver in my spine
: when I see such an old and historical parure
: being so much transformed. My concern is not
: about the tiara/hairpins (I know that the
: tiara is made of several separate elements -
: former corsage brooches - mounted on a tiara
: frame, so there is no problem changing the
: assortment of the elements), but about the
: necklace and the girandole earrings: do we
: know if these jewels can easily revert back
    : to their original, "historical"
    : shape?

: I like the ruby parure hair pins a lot. They
: allow her to wear important hair jewels to
: toned down events that don't require a
: tiara. They look grand in Mary's dark hair.
