Regarding the "very fragile" Keppel ruby necklace/tiara, I do not think it is a matter of repairing or reworking (something that Camilla could very well afford herself, if needed, of course). I suppose it is because of the structure of the jewel, made of a single looping line of diamonds, with the ruby pendants connected only through a knife-edge connection. Therefore, the structure must be quite delicate (as opposed to a more intricate pattern, in which the different elements could be connected more solidly together). Considering the very particular (and somehow very romantic) history of this ruby necklace/tiara, I suppose Camilla wears it mostly in private occasions. As a jewel inherited from a royal mistress, and given to Camilla when she was still herself a royal mistress, I guess some courtiers might raise an reprobative eyebrow if she appeared publicly with such a jewel, whose history is a long history of royal adultery... She probably wants to keep this necklace for private occasions with Charles, and rather uses the royal heirlooms for her public occasions (though I know she has also worn publicly other jewels presented by Charles prior to their marriage). Thank you for the date of the picture of the DoC in pink.
