Hesse diamond brooch Archived Message

The article says the following on one of the brooches pictures: The Hesse diamond brooch has made a series of outings, but only on foreign tours. The exquisite diamond and sapphire brooch has a rich history, having been given to Queen Victoria by her grandchildren from Hesse in Germany for her Diamond Jubilee. When it was made, it was described as a ‘brooch with an open pendant heart of diamonds bearing in the centre the number 60 in Slavonic characters’. I remember we have discussed this brooch, but I cannot recall it was established to have a connection to Queen Victoria and her Hesse family. Would anyone know a reliable source for this? Are there any pictures of previous royal ladies wearing this brooch?
