Hello Everyone, When I wrote my post, I had no time to do anymore, as I had a busy 2 days on & have only just had time to look at the computer. I should have read Roberts & found the right pic Beth, you brought up an interesting fact I had not noticed before re the Queen "borrowing" QV`s bracelet! It is unusual but I expect there must have been some good reason? Also thanks for the other photo Bryce. As for the QV Bar brooch I was reading about that all last week & should have remembered, according to the Menkes list referenced by Twining etc..There is a section of QV`s heirlooms left to the crown of "Orders & Mementos" this is apparently quite a long list so Menkes doesn`t list it all but according to Field as well as that site you found Nellie this section included her diamond bar brooch, Menkes does list QV`s Stars of the Orders of the Garter, Thistle, Bath & St Patrick. I think QV only used her bar brooch to secure her sash & as such considered it as part of her Order. Before her widowhood she wore much more "off the shoulder" necklines & the two single rows were probably quite suitable but later when she turned to higher necklines her sash sat more on her shoulder so she had the two brooches made into one.
