Re: Lyrita: Grace Williams, Daniel Jones and Sir Charles Villiers Stanford?
What about Edward Downes's LSO recording of Bax's Third Symphony? The greatest performance, in my view, of that great work. Years ago I was led to believe that Lyrita had some tentative interest in releasing the work, not least, presumably, due to a family connection between Lyrita and Sir Edward Downes at that time. Nothing ever came of it unfortunately for me and many others who greatly value that particular performance, once available on an RCA LP. Of course it filled one of the gaps in the Lyrita series of Bax's symphonies (No.4 was the other one as that had also previously recorded). Anyway, all that happened was that I was told off for revealing what I had been told. It would be great if Lyrita were to finally release that legendary version of Bax's Third Symphony. PS Len - if you don't want to publish this I understand. All best Jeffrey
