Re: Lyrita: Grace Williams, Daniel Jones and Sir Charles Villiers Stanford?
We are all extremely grateful for the treasures of British (& other) music given to us by Lyrita and the Itter Broadcast Collection. However, I must correct Antony Smith when he ascribes the 4CD set of British Orchestral Premieres (REAM2139) to the Itter Broadcast Collection. All the pieces collected on those disks were recorded by Cameo. I know because I researched the repertoire and obtained the performance materials for the sessions with all the orchestras, and organised the concert by the Orion Symphony Orchestra at which the performances of Dorothy Howell's Piano Concerto and Lilian Elkington's "Out of the Mist" were recorded. I am delighted that Lyrita has now remastered and re-released those recordings, making them available to a wider audience after the demise of Cameo. Yours sincerely, Gareth Vaughan
