Had it not been for those two reviews and your posting and I don't think would have ventured into that music, but I have spent the afternoon listening to symphonies 3 and 4 and the Piano Concerto, and must say that they are very interesting. There's a lot of what I might call atmospheric film music in them and the influences of Shostakovich and Rachmaninov are detectable, but I don't by any means mean to imply that they are superficial or derivative. The Piano Concerto in particular is, I think, a mature and thrilling work which could work its way into the repertoire. Nice to hear accessible contemporary music.
