Re: Hurwitz and Bruckner
It is peculiar that an individual should feel it is appropriate to behave in such an insulting manner towards other music-lovers just because he himself lacks the intellectual curiosity or capacity to appreciate that listening to different versions of Bruckner's symphonies is interesting. I am quite happy to listen to all or any editions simply because I so much love the music and I try not to get bogged down in scholarship - indeed, I cannot, because I am not academic musicologist - just an amateur punter who loves Bruckner. It's a pity, therefore that such behaviour can attract a following and encourage that kind of contemptuous discourtesy.
