When I saw that Decca was once again releasing a complete set of Solti's Ring recordings I had many of the same reservations and questions as you. If you can get your hands on the November 2022 issue of Gramophone there is a very interesting and informative article on this topic. Unfortunately, this article does not appear available online. In a nutshell, these remasters are indeed different from what was remastered in 2012 and are supposedly much closer to what Culshaw signed off on. I have the original CD release set from 1984, the 2015 CD set (2012 remaster) and I have downloaded the first three releases in the current 2022 remastered series. The two-channel 24/96 downloads are so inexpensive that I couldn't resist. The bottom line is that the 2022 set so far is clearly the best sounding of all the digital sets. It is also available in Spatial Audio along with LP releases. Try to read the Gramophone article, it is well worth your time.
