I am by no means an expert on Williamson by my understanding is in the late ‘70s he made
the decision to leave his publisher Josef Weinberger to set up a new publishing
company with Simon Campion. This did not go well. Much of his music was not released until the death of Campion in 2023.

The ‘Déjà Review’ of the Chandos Malcolm Williamson Orchestral Music Volume I makes me wonder yet again what happened to the series. Volume 2 followed a year later but there were no more. I wonder why? Were sales so poor that the series was abandoned? There’s so much more Williamson that I don’t think has ever been recorded including at least four symphonies and much other orchestral music, not to mention the operas and vocal works. I for one would love to hear more of his music.
