I think that I should remind my friend Jeffrey that although Williamson's Sinfonia Concertante was originally designated as his Symphony No 2 it was renamed subsequently. Williamson's Symphony No 2 is subtitled "Pilgrim pa havet" and dates from 1968.

He was an interesting composer but he failed to fulfil some commissions after which his music was largely ignored. All credit to Lyrita and Chandos for initiating some releases. My favourites are the 1st Symphony 'Elevamini'the Sinfonia Concertante (Symphony No.2) the deeply moving Violin Concerto and the main theme music from 'Watership Down'. Previous Message
The ‘Déjà Review’ of the Chandos Malcolm Williamson Orchestral Music Volume I makes me wonder yet again what happened to the series. Volume 2 followed a year later but there were no more. I wonder why? Were sales so poor that the series was abandoned? There’s so much more Williamson that I don’t think has ever been recorded including at least four symphonies and much other orchestral music, not to mention the operas and vocal works. I for one would love to hear more of his music.
