If the walking is hurting so much, have you tried a recumbent bike or another machine that gets your heart rate up. I doubt that the rowing machine or step climber you use your arms on would work with your shoulder right now, but a recumbent might be good. I was having a hard time one time, I started over with the treadmill and track because of a hip problem, but I found that doing 5 minutes on the bike, then slowly working up worked with my hip. I was at over 5 miles by the end of the month, then started working toward 10. I ended up losing 10 pounds that month without changing my eating, too, so it shows that you don't have to go in gung ho and work yourself into the ground to work.
Without going to look, I am pretty sure that my balance workout is Better 5. I bought one of their workouts when I started falling all the time. It helped, but nothing stopped the falls until they took me off the meds that made my head woozy. They also have videos on YouTube if you want to look.
