I am sorry that the news for your dad is not as good as you thought it was, but it sounds like they are on top of it, and if they are waiting, they must know that they have time to wait. I really hope he won't be in the hospital at Christmas. They usually try to get people out and home so they don't have a full house by Christmas, so maybe if they can, they will get him out by then or do it after.
