Went to the podiatrist today… Posted by Cindy on 5/29/2025, 10:22 pm Haven’t gone to one in several (like 15 years). There is a new one at the clinic and I have been having trouble with my feet so I made an appointment. She said that my ankle pain is from tendinitis which I suspected but she told me I have a lot of arthritis in my ankles as well. She also mentioned that she thinks I would benefit from lymphedema therapy. She said she could start with compression knee hi stockings but I wasn’t crazy about that so she thought the therapy would help. I told her I just always thought I just had fat legs but she said she could tell they are swollen. I don’t know if this is good news to be treated for it or not. The thought of someone massaging my bare legs does not appeal to me. I know they do this all the time but that doesn’t help me. I get terribly self conscious about my body. And if they do this therapy will the fluid come back and then some when/if they stop? Has anybody had this before? Can you tell me what to expect? Will I have to strip down?

There are a few in hospital gowns and looks like they are in a hospital situation. There are some exercises they gave me to try myself for my ankles and lower leg swelling that you could try. On a bed or recliner if you can use the bottom of one foot to massage your other leg from the knee down as far as you can reach around, expecially on the inside of the leg. Also massage the top and bottom of the foot after. Switch. Then rotate your feet in a circle for aout 30 seconds, go the other way for 30 seconds, repeat 3-5 times. Take the bottom of each foot and rub the top of the other foot again. There is a video out there on the internet of a doctor showing how to do something very similiar but I can't seem to find it right now.

I have heard they help, too Posted by Delta on 5/30/2025, 4:50 am, in reply to "I don’t have a trampoline but I have…" and they certainly may help with the arthritis becasue the ortho told me to try it for my feet and ankle arthritis before I reminded him I can't.
