Update on Dad Posted by Krista on 10/21/2025, 11:13 am Dad met with the surgeon this morning and either he has surgery to try to remove cancer in November or he decides no surgery and could have a year to live. Chemo is not an alternative as there is a spot that can't be reached and it isn't curative. Cardiologist says it is med-high risk for surgery. He is going to be scheduled for a stress test but can not walk without a walker so not sure how they are going to get him on a treadmill (?) News is fresh so I don't think any of us know what happens now. There isa possibility of never coming home if there are complications during surgery and/or death. Not the news we had hoped for but we have to put our trust in God. It's Dad's decision but I know he does not want to be back in the hospital for Christmas.

No one wants to be in the hospital at Christmas, but if it will give him another Christmas, it might be worth it. It is such a hard decision to make, but it is also extra hard to stand by and accept a decision a loved one makes if it is not what we would choose. I know that whichever way this goes it will be very stressful on you for awhile. We're here to share it with you.

I’ve had it done and they talk you through it and it is over fairly quickly. I hope Paul can get involved in a support group of some sort. I know I have probably asked this-but does Paul work??

They inject medicine to get your heart rate up. I've this 2x. It's a little scary to feel your heart rate go up without exertion but it is over quickly.
