A washing machine. It's laundry day. It's barely above freezing. I am grateful that I don't have to be out boiling my clothes in the yard as my grandmother did. I can remember when she got her first washing machine, so a lot of her life was spent waiting for a good day and boiling clothes.
Freshly washed sheets tonight.
My dishwasher. I love that it holds the dirty dishes all day, so they are not stacked in the sink, or I am not hand-washing all day long to keep them from being stacked in the sink. When my grandson and his family, as well as his best friend and his wife, went to the lake house, his wife assured me that they all made sure to wash their sheets, towels, and wash cloths; fold them and put them away, took out the trash, and everyone cleaned up the house before we left. She said, "Grandma, I washed all the dishes. I knew how because our dishwasher went out once, and I learned how then. Nobody else there knew how" She was so proud of herself, but it took a lot of determination not to laugh in her face that she had not learned how to wash dishes until she was a married woman, and because the dishwasher went out. It is the reality of the times, though, and we can be happy about it.
The inspector finished with the house. My husband and son were there while he did it. He said that the house has great bones. We were worried that windows would have to be replaced, but he said it has fairly new double-pane windows, so we would only have to replace the glass in the one that was broken on the outside pane. It also has a new roof and a new AC. He said the heat unit in the other AC needs to be repaired, and we could put off buying a new one or buy a new one now and enjoy lower bills. The roofers replaced anything in the attic that was damaged when the old roof leaked, so it is all sound. Underpinnings are good in the main house, and the only thing wrong with the addition that my husband was so worried about is that the foundations are not done to code. It needs to be set on concrete and piers (fairly easy and not very expensive). The rest of the add on are fine. The house just needs some minor things here and there that are basic upkeep as houses age. Relieved.
There is already a bidding war on our old lake house, and we haven't listed it, and no one has seen it except for some pictures that my husband or son has. Not only that, but we are not going to have to do the upgrades that we thought we would have to do to get people to look at it. The ones interested are not interested in an HGTV house.

3) Ray is breaking up old furniture pieces and getting rid of them right away so we are able to see progress
4) although I haven't talked to the station manager, I talked to my co-worker Amy and she is having same problems as I am with the promotions person
5) reviewed my post-op information today and pretty well back to a regular diet now. Going to confirm with nutritionist this week but I believe goals are 65-90 grams protein daily, 3 meals and 2-3 snacks -- all of them should include either a protein or milk serving. Small meals / snacks
if more people are coming forward with their concerns about the promotions person, things can change. I hate it when one person can ruin it for everyone.
Good for you on clearing clutter! I have bogged down on mine. I am glad that Ray helps with things like this.
I hope you keep making out meal plans. That is what my niece credits with helping her to lose so well and keep it off all these years. She said that no matter how well she knew it, she brought out the guideline and planned every meal and snack according to it. She says it keeps her from slipping back into eating things that will make her gain. She swears that she is to the point now that she no longer craves other things. I wish this for you! It sounds like a wonderful place to be.

I am not eating too much or the wrong things. I am not drinking water or exercising. That's what is holding me back. I know you are trying to help, Delta. I just didn't want anyone to think I was eating something I wasn't supposed to. I am really upset today that I've wasted $20K

I apologize. I wasn't even thinking that you are not eating well. I am so proud of how you are doing there.
Just saying that she said that it is so easy to fall back into the old groove when you get used to it down the road, and that is what she did to keep her on track all the time. She said that after several months to a year had passed, she found herself acting like her old self, so she used that to remind her every day and every week of the fact that she had had surgery to not do that anymore. It took paying attention, even with the surgery, to not go back to old habits.
Don't be upset. You did not waste $20K. It just takes time. If you need us to kick your butt for not drinking water, we can do that. That is the easiest thing you have to do. Now find a water you like, or better yet, get a good filter or filtered pitcher and get to drinking that water because that is a long drive to get to you, the planes are not flying much here right now.
As far as exercise, just find what you can do. I know you were having excruciating pain while walking. Is that still a problem? If so, find what you CAN do. With the weather as it is, can you find a mall or big box store where you can walk inside if you are going to walk?
Just tell us what kind of support you need. If she keeps dropping hints of what helped her do you want them or would it be better not to pass them along?
As always, anything I say is take what you need and bend it to the shape that will help you, or leave it and walk away.

Yes, my feet are in bad pain all the time. I can bike or use my CUBII - I did 4000 steps (40 minutes) this morning on the CUBII.
I don't know what kind of support I need to be honest. Ray got it taken out on him this morning too - he was also just offering up suggestions.

feel like you were taking anything out on me. I just thought I had hurt your feelings by not being clear about what I was trying to say. I confess that I have a hard time expressing myself lately.
I am glad that you are using the CUBII if it is easier than walking. I wonder if things like chair yoga or some of the other seated exercises could benefit you.
My suggestions would be to check into some of the free online seated exercises on YouTube. That way, you can see if they are compatible or not, and there are so many of them. Are you old enough for Silver Sneakers? I think they start at age 55. In the States, our insurance will pay for them at a gym or give you access to free TV follow-along exercises of all kinds. Around here, you can not only join a Silver Sneakers class, but most places allow you to take advantage of other facilities in the gym at little to no charge.
Whatever you do should not be painful to you, or you won't do it. I know that you love exercise, so hopefully you can find something that suits you that you will enjoy. It would be great if you could find something that the gym doesn't already offer and offer it for obese, elderly, and/or disabled people. Somehow, the gym doesn't seem to see those people who can't do all the bouncing and other things, and I wish it did. You are a natural-born leader, so if anyone could put together a program to help those unseen people, it would be you.
