Want to get this out so I don't dread WIW's post! Posted by Paula on 12/2/2025, 8:15 pm I weighed 251 one evening this past week. I ate like a maniac. High calorie stuff and tons of it. Two weeks ago I was back in the 230s. I said this on the Zoom chat, I get to the 230s and I start to panic. I start thinking that I'll never be able to get in the 220s; that I don't have the perseverance to push through inevitable plateaus; I'll never be able to maintain a significant loss. II do believe those things so I choose to sabotage myself rather than having those fears come true. It's like I want to be in control of my own failures! I'll fail on my terms. This food stuff is insane. You get on a roll and begin to think, "I got this." I don't believe I will ever get it. Maybe it can be less.of a struggle but auto pilot...not happening. I feel embarrassed. Yes, I'm down to 245 but gees oh pete!

I would say that since we have been in this together for over 20 years, over 30 in some cases, and most of us still weigh over 200 pounds, that we all understand very well. It has taken a long time, but lately I am trying to learn my habits and figure out why I do things. Sounds like you have a handle on that, too. I am not licensed to give advice, but if I was I would tell you to STOP trying to lose weight. Yep. Just quit. Quit weighing and fussing. Instead, make 2016 about the year that you get healthy and take the best trip to Europe EVER! By now you know what you can and can't eat to not gain, and what you can and can't eat to lose, what you can eat to sleep well, and what you can and can't eat to feel at your best. That is enough if you follow that path. Trying to lose weight is just senseless with you because you just admitted that you are a contrary one. You will use it to sabotage yourself, but you deserve to be healthy and active in order to have a better life as we age out. We all do. This year, how about we make choices to just feel good and be healthier. Even if we are here another 20 years together we are running out of time to taste that freedom and joy.

I meant to finish that third paragraph by saying that if you eat for health and feel good, you will normally lose weight naturally. I don't even know if I am making sense, though. I can barely think for the wind in my head.

You know what works as you've kicked ASS this year. Repeat that and remember how you felt being so healthy and doing things on vacation. And that in just a few short months you'll be doing it again. Believe in yourself, I believe in you. And also, remember I'm on the chase to catch you

We have all been there and know exactly what you are talking about. I can remember when I was in my 280’s I had the same dilemma. I didn’t think I would ever get into my 270’s and ended up sabotaging my efforts as well. Then one day it finally happened and I escaped the 280’s! I still remember it taking forever -but it did happen. Don’t give up-you’ve got a lot of fight in you and I believe you will be victorious!
