A little blue today Posted by Krista on 2/17/2026, 5:24 pm Not a lot blue -- I did have a great day at work and I did get to the gym for my workout this morning. I binged on the weekend (birthday) and felt horrible - mentally and physically. Cake - 3 pieces maybe 4 and chocolate. I went to bed feeling sick to my stomach so at least I doubt that is something I will want to do again any time soon. I am almost 5 months out from surgery. I thought I would be down 50 by Christmas. Didn't hit that goal. Then I thought I would be down by my birthday. Nope. I know I have lost but not like I thought I would. I do not eat properly. I reached out today to the nutrionist who sent me more information which is a good step. She advises 95-110 grams of protein daily but also 1200-1400 calories. I haven't been watching calories at all. I'm disappointed in myself that I spent over $16K on surgery and am not taking it more serious. I have to turn this around to be what I consider to be successful. Thanks for listening and always supporting me. Just a blue moment ...

Of course, it's partly because my stomach isn't used to the quantity of food I eat on Treat Day, but it's also because my system isn't used to the quality of food I eat on Treat Day. Do you think that's going to stop me from the next scheduled Treat Day? Heck no! I satisfy all my cravings on Treat Day! It is what it is... I roll out of bed the day after Treat Day in what I call a "carb coma". Nothing tastes better than that first 12 oz glass of water I drink first thing in the morning followed up by another 12 oz glass of water. Nothing feels better than getting dressed and going on a 3 mile walk with my husband. I am secretly happy you are going to be counting calories now. Just saying...

I try really hard not to impose my way of thinking on anyone here, especially you who is being guided by nutrition experts! The bottom line is, I was wondering from the beginning why you weren't being advised to count calories. One more thing... I don't think eating 3 or 4 pieces of "your" birthday cake is a big deal, I really don't. The big deal is getting back on track the following day.

I don't think I conveyed in my post Posted by Krista on 2/19/2026, 3:56 pm, in reply to "For what it's worth continued..." based on replies. I'm disappointed overall in my progress. I was having my birthday crap no matter what. It's just kind of embarassing to be down 30-ish lbs since surgery.

We all have to learn to be able to eat a piece of birthday cake or chocolate and then stop. It’s not easy to do. We have all failed at this one time or two or three times …. You get what I am saying. Forgive yourself and move on. Love you.

I wish you could find a way to let go of habitual eating and eat for health, but that is the hardest thing to do, or we would have already done it after all these years of struggle.
