Took a shopping trip to Cribbs Causeway (Bristol) today, obligatory visit to M&S for a cuppa.
Greeted with 'exciting new cafe', it had changed to the new electronic menu you order off, now we have one previous experience of this earlier in the year up in the Midlands and weren't impressed, sorted out how it worked then sat for an age waiting for our drinks/food to arrive. Cribbs experience was better to be fair. It struck me that there are plus and minus benefits to this system, once you've ordered you just go and sit down rather than standing in a huge queue (if you can find a table) it helps a lot if you know what you want, the electronic display works quite well but with the old system you can see the menu up on the wall at a glance and can study the cakes and scones etc on display, I think M&S may well find this works to their disadvantage as a lot of people must have impulse buys while waiting in the queue.
