After I acquire a vintage pen I restore it and take notes of the restoration, model, date, what I paid, possible value, and where and when I purchased it. This information I record, by hand, on a card the size of a 35 millimeter slide. I might also include a sample of the writing on the back of the card.
I give the card a number and attach the smallest sticker to the pen with the number, date, and brand. I attach it to the back of the cap.
It’s easy to access either the card or the pen since I keep the brands separated in boxes made of archival cardboard.
As I said, old school, but very simple, permanent, and easy to access. It works!
