Could it be that the tiara was put up as security for a substantial loan and was not actually with the Greek RF until the loan was paid off and the tiara redeemed? Although Marie Chantale comes from a very wealthy family, I believe there periods when the Greek RF went through fiscally difficult times.
What is the timing between the tiara reappearing and the settlement the RF made with the Greek government?
