Reluctantly I have to agree with you when it comes to the current situation of these Message Boards. But I am still not willing to give up 
I do not have Instagram myself - nor will I - (call me "old-fashioned") as I believe that the quality of the discussions had here is much higher than over on those social media platforms.
As for the lack of replies sometimes... I sometimes jokingly tell myself that the most efficient way to stop a discussion is to actually post a reply to any message myself.
Sometimes it can be frustrating to not have any replies but on the other hand why should anybody reply if they don't have anything to say

Well, golly. If I took a noisy timeout every time I tried to start a thread here with no replies, lol…
The truth is, this board is slowly fading into insouciance. We all know it, the pull of quick and easy social media has spread even to royal jewels. I spend way more time on Instagram, and I know others do too.
ps- and not everyone is interested in British brooches.

That is a question only joye can answer of course but I think maybe it could be down to frustration of not having had any reaction to her thread. This last thread where joye tried to start a discussion on a specific section of Queen Elizabeth II's brooches was probably just the last drop after several such occurences.
I hope I can be forgiven for making these general assumptions without knowing for certain the exact reason for joye's reaction. Previous Message
