I think you will find that optics play a large role. At a time when there are such economic difficulties, displaying a seemingly bottomless selection of jewels would be seen to be insensitive and out of touch. By using the same ones multiple times, they become familiar enough to escape a great deal of attention, whereas a constant variety would just inflame some people.

For a monarchy with the largest collection of grand jewels it is quite disappointing to see the same pieces time and time again when we know beautiful other pieces are rarely or never worn.

William and Catherine have posted a pic of them in their outfits for tonight. The princess is in a Philippa Lepley gown and has once again opted for the Lovers' knot tiara.

I guess she will go for the american flag (like she did at the french SV) so probably a white gown a ruby tiara and the Order of the Garter
As dfor Cahterine i hope something different then the Loves Knot tiara, but this one is most likely

Are there any guesses about the tiaras the royal ladies will wear attending tonight's state banquet at Windsor Castle?
As the funeral of the Duchess of Kent was only yesterday I believe we'll only see white gowns and diamond or diamond and pearl jewels from the Royal ladies.
For Queen Camilla that could mean another outing of the Girls of Great Britain tiara or Queen Alexandra's fringe tiara.
The Princess of Wales is probably going to wear the Lovers' knot tiara though I would love to see a. new piece on her. Maybe one of the fringe tiaras and necklaces that are part of the Royal collection.
The Princess Royal could stun with her big tiara she so far has only worn for the Chinese state dinner a few years ago, that would give us a better view of the piece but im expecting the Greek meander tiara for her.
The Duchess of Edinburgh will most likely wear her reworked wedding tiara or the Papyrus tiara.
The Duchess of Gloucester is probably going for the smaller Invea tiara or the diamond version of the Palmette tiara.
Any thoughts?
