I think that is a nice value, bearing in mind that the major pieces we saw Princess Lilian with are owned by the Bernadotte Foundation and formed no part of her estate.
It immediately also shows the vulnerability of so many jewels. Sweden has no (or very low) succession taxes but in other countries heirs of such jewels are faced with taxes, half a million Euro for the jewels alone, plus possibly real estate, the inventory, the artworks, the library, the lands, the savings, whatever more. It is no wonder that in some countries the heirs then decide to sell what is easiest to sell (jewels) to overcome taxes...
